How I Make My Crochet Scrap Yarn Blankets
Scrap yarn blankets are so practical. So many people have asked how I make my scrap blankets. It is really very easy and there is not a written pattern to follow.
I simply start by deciding how long I would like the blanket to be. I then make a chain to that length and start double crocheting rows. I use up my yarn scraps, old yarn and pieces of other blankets that I no longer want or need. I tie all the ends together and just keep going. The blanket I am making now is for my queen sized bed. This means I will keep adding rows until it has a good amount of overhang on the sides of my queen size mattress. Right now, I’m not sure how many rows that will be. When I am completely finished, I will add that information to this post.
I started making these blankets a few years ago when I got overwhelmed with scrap yarn. I used to just stockpile it. I finally got smart and decided to just make big, ugly blankets that absolutely don’t match. It really does not matter because they are only for personal use at home. And, you can’t beat the way they keep you warm in the winter.
